TEEN'S CORNER - POEM

Growing up isn't an easy thing to do,
Yet it doesn't have to be hard either,
It's Not My Fault,

If you don't love yourself, don't respect yourself, don't believe in yourself,
If you don't follow your dreams, too lazy to reach your goals, refuse to grow up,
If you don't accept responsibility for your own actions,
If you make a decision you'll regret for the rest of your life,
If you listen to other people who haven't walked a day in your shoes,
If you make your own perceptions about what people say & do,
If you throw away wisdom & instruction from the ones who've been there & back,
If you become a follower instead of a leader, you stay dependent instead of independent,
If you call yourself defeated before you even try or simply never try,
If you keep singing the oh me pity song 'cause you don't thank God for your blessings,
If you don't appreciate the family & friends you have,
If you consider yourself not intelligent & sufficient to handle life, your own life,
If you blame someone else for your issues 'cause you feel too inadequate to handle it,
If you have low self-esteem, negative self image, or awkwardness about yourself,
If you keep talking & talking & talking about things you desire to do, but never do,
If you have wishful thinking that never goes from your mind, to your heart, to reality,
If you stay full of hot air & lackadaisical thinking with no real purpose or destiny,
If you don't complete what you started & participate in changing your life,
If you feel left out because you don't include yourself in own life or those around you,
If you decide to be the cheese instead of the mouse,
If you decide to be the prey instead of the lion,
If you decide to be the hunted instead of the hunter,
If you decide to use drugs, go to jail, or fight over a bag of cookies,
If you decide to have unprotected sex & get AIDS, STDs, mouth sores, or death!
If you decide to have a child & can't take care of it or yourself for that matter,
If you decide to fail in school or drop out 'cause you too lazy to receive an education,
This list could go on 'cause you teenagers make life so complicated instead of simple,
Maybe everything isn't your fault or so simple even Rome wasn't built overnight,
But instead of complaining about what you don't have, what you need to change,
JUST SIMPLY DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Now that's simple enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And if you don't do it, stop complaining and making someone else part of your issues,
With all the energy you use going around the "blaming game" board,
You could have changed your whole life by now! Helllllooooo!
Without blaming someone else for your own shortcomings!
Believe in yourself & everything will be possible for you - only you LIMIT YOU!
